Is this a UFO above Crawley?
Is this a UFO above Crawley?

Strange things can often be seen in our skies.

What the.....?
The Argus has printed this as a serious story?
Try to watch the vidoe 'evidence' without laughing out loud. It looks like someone vidoeing a spotlight!

That should be video and videoing. In my excitement I typed too fast!
Posted by: Rob, Hove on 9:32pm Sun 23 Mar 08
Blimey I just looked and it's still there. Only in my case it's not half obscured by a wall. And I stood still.

My wife reckons it's called a 'moon'. Anyone else ever heard of this?

FFS.....
Is this the level of reporting we can expect from the Argus, the friggin Beano produces more serious articles.

What happened, have you employed a whole load of druggies off their faces top write or something ?
Posted by: Fay, Brighton on 10:59pm Sun 23 Mar 08
I thought FFS referred to flat foot soozie, but it's short for f---'s sake.

April fool isnt yet!! I want to know the name of your dealer Arsegas!!

Well thats been the best laugh I've had all day!

Seriously though, it's nice to see that someone else is as bad at keeping the video camera still on full zoom as I am!

I think I've also got a photo of the Red Arrows being magically removed from an ariel shot I took of them. Do you think it could be the same aliens?

That looked like somebody holding a light on a stick and waving it in front of a camera. I believe in extra-terrestrial life but I do no think that was a UFO at all. You have got to do better than that.
Posted by: derr, USA on 3:22am Mon 24 Mar 08
another attempt to put something on the news that is a fake video of a stationary electric light...but the real ufo events and videos show the reality...the daily life and routine will change forever soon enough.

Does anyone that leaves comments on the web have at least half of there brain cells? How is that possibly the moon? However it does look alot like venus to me. If you knew anything venus goes through pretty much the same phases the moon does but its much smaller and can only be seen with a telescope or binoculars. (or a zoomed in camera)
Posted by: Marco, Brighton on 8:18am Mon 24 Mar 08
If you spend any time at fark.com you'll realise instantly that this is a streetlight.

There are a lot of videos around like this one; shakey, no context, and unconclusive. We don't even seem to have with it the testimony of the person who shot it.

It's unlikely to be Venus or the Moon as the righthand side of the object is too straight for the phase, in my opinion. However, we can say no more about it without some more information.

On the one hand, I think there is little in this to warrant publication. However, on the other hand I welcome The Argus for being prepared to be open minded and allow us, as intelligent readers, to make up our own minds.

Hahaha!! That edge of the wall needs a touch of re-pointing!
It's the moon!!

Is there intelligent life on the Argus?

Nick - probably not but at least most use ENGLISH. The language used and recognised by most of the civilised world. Oh that's why a yank got it wrong. I think you'll find that it should be "their brain cells" and not as you put it.

Richard Gurner, you actually put you name to this article?

By chance did you check to find out when this was filmed (Date/Time)? I wouldn't be in the least surprised if you found that it coincided with the full moon this week which for a time was very low in the sky and quite large in appearance. @ Nick USA, you might sound less stupid if you were in Sussex around the time of the full Moon to see it for yourself then you might understand where the idea that it is The Moon came from.

If u want serious UFO discussion - and a palce to post this vid then openmindsforum.com is the palce to be, recently covered on foxnews and hte latimes they are a serious investigative cooperative website and organisation that treats with an open mind but also applies progressive sceptism but with a balanced viewpoint might be worth exposing youreself to the OMF team

It looks like someone who has been binge drinking woke up with the "joe blakes" and while trying to phone a cab accidently took a picture of an outside light.
Posted by: Roy Hills, Heathfield on 1:13pm Mon 24 Mar 08
This is Fridays full moon, which obviously affected the photographer!
Posted by: Dee Bunk on 1:42pm Mon 24 Mar 08
looks like a cloud with the moon background.
What made the filmer believe it was a ufo?
Posted by: UFO, Sussex on 1:58pm Mon 24 Mar 08
Its obvious that it's a sign that they are coming.
It was in the Argus so it must true. They would'nt print it if not

this video shows absolutely nothing unusual, other than the fact that it is getting any attention at all. It gives the truly authentic videos a bad reputation when these types are given any notice at all.

Its obvious that this is not a real UFO. When it landed no one got out. usually men in white coats come out and take people away.

Totally insignificant... could very well be a shaky video-cam of a local streetlight. As a physicist and former photography instructor I give it very, very low marks for validity. A waste of broadband. I'm waiting for MULTIPLE videos from differing locations and proximity of the same object. (I "believe" but do not accept anything and everything thrown up for viewing.)

Dear Thomas Crowe,

As a trained observer did you make note of the irregular circular shape? Similar to that of a waxing moon.

Ta.

P.S. Keanu Reeves has been cast for my role in this film.

You gotta be jokin' A torch, spotlight car headlight anything but a ufo. And he needs to lay off the stout before handling a camera.
Posted by: Earthling, Earth on 2:10am Tue 25 Mar 08
The pointall of you are missing is this :

As no-one here has ever seen a REAL genuine U.F.O. (for the simple reason that NO-ONE ever has seen a genuine real UFO and proven it) then how on earth can you say that the streetlight / spotlight ISN'T genuine?

You are all as crap as people that watched Jurassic park and yabbitted on about how lifelike the dinosaurs were ...not that you nor anyone ever saw a real one to compare. You know, like when you go to Alton Towers on the roller coaster, come off and start telling people it was just like flying in space ...not that you've ever done that.

Personally I think it's just a lamp : but I also think the whole lot of you are also all retards.

TAKING ISSUE WITH AN IDIOT CALLING HIM/HERSELF "EARTHLING": You call us all retards, but why? We seem to be expressing different views in this discussion; some believing, others not, and those like myself who remain open-minded though state that they think this footage is nothing worthy of consideration. So, in your opinion, ALL opinions are those of retards? Yours too, clearly.
